James “Alex” Watkins started his career as a flight officer in the US Navy, where he developed many skills that would serve him as a future attorney. The son of a preeminent defense attorney in Atlanta, Georgia, Alex Watkins attended Tulane University while serving in the NROTC.

After a career flying for the Navy, Alex returned to New Orleans where he opened a successful vintage clothing boutique on Magazine Street.

Alex attended night school at Loyola University School of Law and worked as a clerk for Capitelli & Wicker by day. In 2004 Alex graduated cum laude with his law degree from Loyola and joined the firm full-time as an associate attorney.

To Capitelli & Wicker, he brings his uncanny ability to find patterns and spot technical flaws in products or procedures–skills that are so crucial in medical malpractice, products liability, class action, antitrust, casualty and wrongful death cases.

Alex is not only a person who can spot technical details involved in a lawsuit, he’s also a person who understands the emotional pain people go through either having lost a loved one or dealing with a life changing injury. It’s what drives him to work harder on their behalf. Such a strong combination of empathy and exacting technical detail makes him a huge asset to Capitelli & Wicker, but more importantly to his clients.

Alex is passionate about New Orleans and is active in the community. He serves on the board for the Positive Vibrations Foundation supporting jazz programs around the city. Alex has spent 6 years as the team captain of a Hogs for a Cause team. His team’s goal is to raise money to pay the extra expenses of families of children being treated for brain cancer.
